Course Description:
This is a graduate level course that is designed to provide basic knowledge on bacterial pathogens with an emphasis on systemic approaches to studying infectious diseases. Relationships between pathogen and host factors in causing diseases will be addressed. This course is intended to serve as a foundation for more advanced coursework in immunology or microbial pathogenesis.
Course Objectives:
Learn concepts and terminologies in bacterial pathogenesis.
Understand mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis.
Identify the role of host responses in bacterial diseases.
Evaluate methods for studying bacterial pathogenesis.
Develop an ability to discuss bacterial pathogenesis.
